During his time as a judge, Ganguly directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate claims of irregularities in the recruitment process for teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools in West Bengal.
Shortly after resigning from his position at the Calcutta High Court, Abhijit Ganguly held a press conference in Kolkata where he announced his decision to join the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
When asked about his formal entry into the party, Ganguly mentioned a possible date of March 7th in the afternoon, with a tentative schedule in place.

Ganguly, on the other hand, stated that he is uncertain about running in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
